Most Grateful Dead followers were hooked by the music. David Dodd, a Petaluma librarian, was lured by the words. He wrote “The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics” (480 pages including an index, with illustrations throughout mainly in black and white). The foreword of the book is written by Robert Hunter who wrote the words to Jerry Garcia’s music for the Grateful Dead.
